Why Black and White?

Photographers often choose black and white over color because it lends a sharpness and clarity to an image and makes it visually more interesting.

Unlike arguments which are never black and white as we like to think, but varying shades of grey, black and white images tend to be crisp, clear, ordered.

Black and white abstract art can be an inspirational feature in any room.

Black and White in the Home

This is art that works well on a large scale and a piece of black and white abstract art can create a stunning effect placed alongside an item of brightly-colored furniture.

A series of three or five smaller black and white abstract prints, framed in simple, narrow black frames will also make a very beautiful and elegant statement.

When used with a shade or two of grey, a black and white piece will gain added depth and when a small amount of a primary color is added, a vivid red,  blue or yellow for instance, the overall effect is stunning.

Abstract expressionist painter, Franz Kline created some of the most powerful black and white art.  His art is full of energy and movement and demands to be seen on a large scale.

Jackson Pollock’s  Zeichnung Tropftechnik is a beautifully simple black and white abstract composition and much of his other work, although denser, echoes the black and white theme.
